Presented by Albany Entertainment Centre
Produced by Matthew Truscott and ACO Collective
Music of War and Peace presented by the Australian Chamber Orchestra will feature ACO Collective.
Led by British Guest Director Violinist Matthew Truscott (Concertmaster of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment), this evocative program explores dramatic works for chamber orchestra and the ever-present clash that exists in humanity, that is our twin urges to seek peace and to wage war.
Inspired by World War II, the two main works from the program are Bartok’s energetic and folk-driven Divertimento for Strings, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s rousing Chamber Symphony. The concert also features the popular Baroque work Battalia by Heinrich Biber, and the serene Fratres by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt. Music of War and Peace promises an emotive musical journey across numerous styles, centuries, countries and genres, performed with the intense brilliance of the engaging and dynamic ACO Collective.
